These two were supposedly based on a real couple, who said they wouldn’t board a life boat as long as there were younger people still aboard the ship. They both went below deck, presumably to their room, and that’s the last time they were seen.
Eh, partially right. You got the “based on a real couple” part right.
The couple depicted in the movie were indeed based off of real people; Ida Straus and Isador Straus. But the reason why they didn’t board a lifeboat was because Isador wanted to make sure all the women were off the Titanic before him. Ida then refused her seat in the lifeboat because she didn’t want to abandon her husband. Witnesses have stated that her last words to her husband before they departed the lifeboats were “We have been living together for many years. Where you go, I go.”
They also were last seen sitting and waiting on deck chairs and not in bed like the movie shows.
